Is the French doctor suggestions to test the vaccine in Africa is a sound strategy or an act of racism?
covid 19 vaccine

Date

These days vaccination of Covid 19 is going on all over the world. Researchers believe that the vaccine will work and will not lead to an attack of the virus again. Scientists are vaccinating different people and have categorized people according to age, gender, race, and culture. Scientists are testing vaccination to check the result and checking how a vaccine can fight against the disease.

As vaccination is started for senior citizens, but some scientists want to check on teenagers or people belonging to different cultures. There is some controversy among the researchers. They also want to check the vaccine results on people of different races to know either genetics also affect the emergence of disease. This happened recently. Two French doctors claimed to check the vaccine in the African patients. It is reported that French doctors took this action based on racism. The head of intensive care said that the trial was to be done on European and Australian territories. The doctor said they would not do the study in Africa as there are no care of mask, no treatment, and no resuscitation.

According to other doctors, they said the study would be in Europe or Australia. People there care and have access to personal protective equipment to prevent themselves from getting attacked by the virus.

How these statements got a reaction?

The comments given by the French doctors entirely depict racism. The community show anger, and they showed frustration. Most people commented on social media. Not only general public commented on this response, but famous footballers Didier  and Samuel also responded. According to them, they curse at false and deeply racist words. They said they don’t take Africa as guinea pigs; these words are disgusting. Moreover, people said these doctors are murderers. They further added that clinical trials of BCG vaccine on corona patients are the wrong decisions.

Although people said that doctors should not forget Africa or exclude the country from research, the vaccination should be done wisely. Health providers must divide countries and vaccinate volunteers so each and every part of the world get vaccination to ensure heath safety against the Covid 19.

Later on, Dr. Mira apologized for his words and said he felt insulted by the clumsy remarks he got on his statement. According to the doctor, the statement was not for the vaccination of coronavirus. Instead, it was for the testing of BCG for tuberculosis. Thus controversy exists, and it created frustration in social media.

Final thoughts

Misunderstanding took place when French doctors were giving an interview, and they claimed to vaccinate Africans. Their tone and words were depicting racism. Later on, they apologized when the community criticized the comments by the French doctors. There still exists discrimination of race. Due to this reason, conflict occurred, and people reacted harshly. It is important to prevent racism and treat the Covid wisely. So there are no conflicts among community and everyone get fair treatment.
