For those parents who never imagined their ailing babies and toddlers could be helped by chiropractic care, it may be time for some rethinking.
Especially when the uplifting story of a new mom from New Jersey and her baby girl is considered. Jean, a 31-year-old speech therapist, had no luck with the traditional ways of alleviating her baby’s infantile colic symptoms. After a daily regimen of children’s probiotics still failed to help baby Emma, Jean consulted her own chiropractor.
It only took one visit with board-certified pediatric chiropractor Dr. Lora Tanis for Jean to see immediate results.
“During the very first visit, as I was gently adjusting Emma’s spine, her hysterical crying stopped and her body immediately relaxed,” says Dr. Tanis, a big supporter of the Foundation for Chiropractic Progress.
“As the weeks progressed, Emma’s demeanor changed from tears to smiles,” says Dr. Tanis.
Jean isn’t the only person to become an advocate for chiropractic care for kids. Recent studies show similar results in using chiropractic care to treat infantile colic. Research conducted by the Center for BioMechanics and Denmark’s Odense University discovered that spinal manipulation effectively reduced the amount of hourly crying among colicky babes. Another 2012 study from the Anglo-European College of Chiropractic found supporting results as well.
