The impact of Corona virus on a specific vulnerable population: the poor, homeless, people with mental illnesses

Date

Everyone knows very well that how the COVID pandemic has turned out the whole patterns of the world. This pandemic has caused a lot of deaths of people worldwide. It is putting severe impacts on everyone, but here we will discuss coronavirus’s effect on a specific vulnerable population, such as the homeless or some mental illnesses. Let us start this discussion.

Effect of COVID-19 on Vulnerable population:

Coronavirus has made the pre-existing inequalities more severe and challenging. It has increased the poverty and suffering of the vulnerable population. People who are homeless are suffering a lot due to this pandemic. Other than this, any pandemic can cause severe depression and stress on people’s mental health. But the people who are already suffering from mental illness are at greater risk of facing various mental health issues because they have a high vulnerability. Below we are going to give its impact separately on the poor people, people who are homeless and people with various mental health issues;

Vulnerable population with poverty and homelessness:

Homi Kharas, an American writer, wrote in his article that people are suffering from job loss and poor financial conditions due to a fall in economic growth. Their physical health is being disturbed with COVID-19, and if they are poor, they are at higher risk of facing depression and anxiety with this disease.

COVID has put the country’s economic growth fallen at severe risk. Now the international monetary fund has made many recent estimates related to COVID-19 impact on poverty. Still, they have reported that it really to go in every home to check out the complete analysis of this COVID impact on poor and homeless people. Many homeless people lack safety measures and safety equipment such as face masks and sanitisers, so they are at higher risk of getting infected with this virus. Many homeless people have been suffered from this deadly virus, and even if they were dead, the government do not even know about their death and bodies.

Vulnerable population with Mental illnesses:

CoVID-19 can cause severe neurological and mental complications. It has a significant impact on everyone and everything in the whole world. A recent study on COVID-19 and its effect on the vulnerable population has shown that people with pre-existing mental disorder, substance use disorder or any neurological and psychological issues are at higher risk of getting SARS-CoV-2 infection. They cannot stand firmly before this virus, and they may even bring death. And this is true as most of the mentally ill people have been gone through this virus, and either their condition is severe, or they had been the prey of death.

This is how vulnerable people are suffering a lot from this pandemic. Due to poverty, they don’t even manage to have proper treatment for themselves. People with mental illness are also a big challenge to solve by the government in this pandemic. The government and political powers should plan something to help them.
